Hello, I think I have a temperature problem with my G4 MDD Dual 1.42 GHz FW800. When I do something CPU/graphics intensive such as heavy photoshop CS3 use while also ripping CD's in ITunes, the temperature raises inside the case and the machine completely switches off.
Using Temperature Monitor to monitor the CPU temperature, I discovered that this happens when the CPU temperature raises from about 36°C at low activity to 50°C plus. I will leave it a few minutes and it will boot normally.
I am running OS 10.4.11 updated from 10.4.6. I have also downloaded CHUD 3.5.2 and have NAP mode enabled which made a big difference. Rest of system is 2GB PC2700 RAM (4 x 512Mb), 500 GB Hitachi SATA HD with Sonnet PCI SATA card, LiteON DVD writer and an ATI 9800 Pro 256Mb graphics card. PSU is a 360W AcBel.
Has anyone an idea what I could do cure the power downs? I am thinking of installing some verax fans, maybe two 65mm at lower front of the case and two more behind the processors at the back... Ideas? Thanks
