I just got my new dual 1.8ghz powermac G5 today and ran into problems with the very first thing I tried to do. I was trying to reinstall OSX and partition my drive but I couldn't even get that far. Turns out my new computer doesn't want to boot from CD. I tried to boot from the osx install cd that came with my computer by holding c, choosing it as startup disc in the system preferences, and even holding option when i start up. With this last one, the only option I had once it started was Macintosh HD.
The CD does mount in when i start up normally, it just won't boot from it. Is this a common problem or am I just lucky?
My specs are:
Dual 1.8 G5
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256MB ram
SONY DVD RW DW-U21A Superdrive.
1GB ram (from apple)
I have no third party anything installed.
