Printer problem from Mac to PC

hello, I have connected my printer to my PC and set everything up to be able to print from my iBook. It worked at one time and I can even see the printer when I look one the browser for "common UNIX printing system". When I try to print now my mac says "unable to connect to printer, operation timed out" Any suggestions?

Has the IP address of your PC changed since you setup your printer on your Mac?

Well what version of OS X are you running? What version of Microsoft or Linux is running on the PC? Have you read the article Printing to a printer on a Windows XP PC from a Mac running 10.4.x? Did you read the Apple document Mac OS X 10.4: Can't print to a printer shared by Microsoft Windows?

We are mac user so you have to list the version of Windows you are sharing from? Plus did you turn on the firewall in Windows?

I am running 10.4.11 on the Mac and Windows XP on the PC. I will try these articles and follow up tomorrow. I had it working once from a website called my first mac.

Okay, I have tried several things and my Mac sees the printer and always sends it but it always comes back the same "...timed out". This is driving me NUTS, especially since the first time I set it up from the My first Mac site instructions it worked, but now it won't.

First of all the make sure you have borked your OS X printing system. Download the shareware (it has a 7 day trial) Printer Setup Repair and use that programs tabs to fix all the small printing system problems on your old machine.

Then follow the first article to print to XP machine from 10.4.x. Delete all reference to that printer and then follow the steps exactly as the article shows. Plus restart the XP machine and make sure someone didn't turn some kind of Windows Firewall on or something.

Okay, I now have it working again but this time it will print what I want and stop the paper, it won't feed it through the printer. I tried printing on the PC and it spools it through fine, so this is only through the Mac that it will not feed out the paper.
