Problem w/PCI ethernet card configuration

Hi,

I am a new member, so hello to all.

I have a MacG4 and the original ethernet port appears to have died, so I purchased and installed a new Mac compatible 10/100 ethernet PCI card in Port 5 (product indicated that no driver was required for OX 10.1 and higher). The card appears to be recognised and network preferences panel has a green light indicating that the port is active and connected to the internet. However, none of my browsers work even though I am fairly sure that I have configured the TCP/IP (Lan connection) correctly with IP, routers, etc. I don't know what else to check. Can anyone please offer any suggestions.

Thank you,http://www.macosx.com/forums/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=1298047

Did you "uncheck" the old, dead ethernet port in the "Network" pane of the System Preferences?

It sounds like your computer is still trying to use the old ethernet port for internet access... simply unchecking the checkbox next to your dead ethernet port in "Network Port Configurations" should remedy that.

Sounds like the same problem I'm having. Lightning took care of the onboard ethernet, so I bought a PCI ethernet card which works great in OS 9, but I cannot get it working in Tiger. (Yes, I'm late into the OS X world due to $$).
