Problems with iTunes 9.1.1

jonwiz - The solution (usually) is deleting just 3 files. If your problem is the same, then you don't need to delete all your files, just the small number mentioned. That will not delete any music that you may have.

I just saw in his post that he said he deleted the 3 files + all his media (after backing them up)...

Can you tell me where are they located exactly?

Thanks very much.

/Music/iTunes there are three files from the iTunes Library (iTunes Library, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, and iTunes Library Genius.itdb), they keep all the library structure of your musics. Once you delete them, it will clean your iTunes and it will start a new library from scratch.

If you plan to re-install your iTunes (which I don't think it is necessary), please don't forget to delete the following preferences:
* com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
* com.apple.iTunes.helper.plist
* com.apple.iTunes.plist
* com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist

You will simply have to add the musics back to your iTunes. I recommend you to add like 10 musics and check if it worked (it will probably work). After that you can add your remaining library. Hope the solution now gets more clear to you.
P.S. Cait deleted everything, it was not a recommendation, she/he simply did it...

LMeinhardt , What i mean is:
1) copying the fuiles back is no problem - but how will i be able to restore the playlists?
2) will i be able to reinstate the Purchased Items or will it block them as if i am trying to pirate-copy them... (i do not have a burner to back them up)

Please advise,
Thanks
Jon

ok i took the risk - while backing the files u told me to delete - the purchased works... now let's see if i can import the playlists again...

will report the results.
Thanks
Jon

so, it is all well.
I recommend you backup the playlist one at a time properly.
The purchased items are transfered.
all well (but a lot of work)...

Thanks a million!
