problems with itunes

i have two problems with itunes. the first is that it won't burn cds. i think it's not a problem with my burner or the blank cd b/c i can burn a cd through toast. i make the playlist, put the cd in and itunes says to hit the burn icon to begin, but when i click on the icon nothing happens.

the second problem is that itunes won't play certain cds. they are cds that play in a normal stereo, but when i put the cd into the computer it is ejected within a minute. nothing pops up on the screen explaining why the cd won't play. i also tried to stick the cd into another powerbook, and that powerbook spit it out too.

i would appreciate any help you can give me. thanks!

the cd's itunes wont play... do they appear in Finder? if not, the cd is probably scrathed or dirty. the cdplayer in a computer is usually a lot more sensitive than a regular cd-player and will sometimes not accept cd's that regular cdplayers see nothing wrong with.
do you press the closed burn symbol and wait for itunes to tell you to insert an empty cd before you insert the cd?

i press the closed burn symbol, wait for itunes to tell me to put in a blank cd, put in the blank cd, then itunes says to click the burn symbol and i click on it and nothing happens.

What kind of CD burner do you have? Did it come pre-installed in the computer, or did you install it yourself, and what kind of Macintosh is it?

Sorry to thread hijack, but I too have a question. Currently, when I look at my iTunes account options, it says that music I purchase can only be played on one computer. I was under the impression that you get like 5 licences. Was I totally wrong? If not, how do I change it?

the burner came installed on the computer. i have a powerbook g4. basically i don't understand why the burner would work with toast and not with itunes. up until a few days ago itunes would burn cds.

DanTekGeek,

Try playing the song(s) on another computer. iTunes should ask you if you want to authorize. I think you need an Internet connection.

What version of iTunes do you have?

Can you burn a regular data cd? (Basically pick a folder and choose the burn option for it within OS X).

Are you trying to burn songs purchased from the iTunes music store?
