Project schedule software

For most of the clients I work for I have to write very simple project schedules in word or excel.

The only problem is when the client decides to delay the start date on the project. Then the whole schedule needs to be updated.

What I'm looking for is a piece of software to write schedules with that can automate a change in the start of a project for all scheduled dates. Ideally it needs to be able to export to Word or Excel.

Is there such a piece of software?

Personally, however, I'm using a proprietary system that my boss and I wrote in-house. It's geared mostly toward invoicing however.

(I'm woring on a PHP MySQL project management app right now actually, but it might not be ready any time soon...)
