I am thinking about getting projector for my mac. I am going to teach some Mac classes and want to project the Mac screen so that the students do not have to a Mac to learn.
I do not know much about them except for they cost over $1000. Why is that ? the bulb?
What sort of specs should I be looking for? What resolution is good? How many lumens? etc.

I know they are exspensive but what is a good middle of the road one. Any suggestions?

If you're going to be teaching in a small room, get the smallest, cheapest projector you can find, because it won't make that much of a difference.

If all you want to do is to project a screen so they can follow you, you don't need to a get a projector that will work in a 500-seat ampetheatre and project high definition DVDs :p

I'm not sure of the model we use, but I'll try to find out and get back to you. I love it, it's about half the size of a briefcase, heats up quickly, cools quickly, all 'round good picture quality...

We have a Proxima 6850+ that's about 2 years old hooked up to our G4 teacher's station in the lab. Nice bright image, even with the lights left on (hard to take notes in the dark!). I believe it was about $1200. Check out www.presentations.com for reviews and buyer's guides.
