putting backup .mac mails into mail

my .mac mails stopped being received in mail on my laptop - but they were coming to my phone and available on line.
I went to a genius bar, the uninstalled the account, reinstalled, rebooted and it worked......but minus the old mails. I have a backup of the mails. pls tell me how i can put the saved mails back into mail.

Drag-and-drop the emails back into the correct mailbox.

If that doesn't work, please be more specific about what kind of "backup" you have -- did you use Apple's "Backup.app"? Did you manually back up the .mbx files? Did you use something like Chronosync?

Without knowing exactly what kind of backup strategy you used, we're completely clueless as to how to help you.
