QPS wont honor rebates.

warning for anyone buying a QPS cdrw drive, and the rebate they promised..

Bought my drive back in december, and here it is april...

no rebate.

If you want support from this company for this drive, forget it! The company is "impossible" to get in touch with...

ive tried phone, fax, letters, email... you name it.

the drive itself is great.... thank god I dont need help with it... I would be out of luck.

this company and their business practices stink..... worse Mac company ive ever dealt with.... and ive dealt with many.

I plan on reporting them to the bbb, and fcc.. .

whatever good that will do. :(

I doubt it'll do any good.

You should know by now that like 1 out of 10 companies actually honor mail in rebates

QPS is the ONLY company ive had problems with on rebates. every other company that promised it delivered it.

this is a first....

Okay, first off, i would be very very surprised if QPS handled their own rebates. They pay a rebate company to handle everything. The rebate company is usually where the scandal is. Remember a few years ago when Diamond was under fire for this same thing? They switched rebate companies and problem was a lot better.

I have gotten rebates back that are close to 1 and a half years old. It was more of a surprise than anything. It is a classic move that companies do to lure buyers. They are not losing any money at all thanks to them being able to float the money until it is approved that you are able to get one. The longer they float, which will probablly be longer since interest rates are low, the more money they make.

It is incredibly frustrating, but i hope you learn not to buy things counting on the rebates that are offered.

Why not? It is their word, shouldn't they be bound to it? I know if I got snubbed on a rebate, ever, I would never again buy that companies products. NEVER.

Regardless if it is some third parties fault, the actual company's image is at stake, not the fulfillment company.

I would consider going to some consumer websites such as epinions.com and writing some reviews about it. it could be cathartic for you.

good luck.

several things...

I did NOT buy the drive because of the rebate. I liked the reviews on it.. and I was "warned" about them not honoring rebates. I bought anyway... I liked the drives looks, ease of use, reviews.

Im VERY happy with the drive... works great! Easy to set up (good thing, because their support sucks!).

Next, its not MY problem if QPS is having a problem with a rebate company.... fix it.... either get a new company, or... DONT OFFER REBATES IN THE FIRST PLACE. Simple enough. No excuse for this.

Dont insult my intelligence by offering rebates you are NOT honoring. This is false advertising, and im sure their are laws against it.

And, it should not take 5 months to get a rebate.... 4-6 weeks is a reasonable time period.

Seems it would be easier for them to cut their price by $30, and dont offer rebates in the first place?

Would I get a QPS again? Not if I wanted customer support after the sale!

Id recommend yamaha, sony, or some big name company that will be there after the sale is done.
