Quake 3 arena demo doesnt work for OS X why?

i have downloaded Q3A demo to my Mac but every time i try to install it. It say that it is not supported on this system. So it wont let me install.
What should i do so i can install is or do i have to buy full Q3A?
 
Q3A comes as a binhex encoded file -- that's the .bin extension. You need StuffIt Expander, available free from http://www.allume.com to expand this kind of file.

Once expanded, there should either be an installer or a folder containing the Q3A executable that you can run from there.

Q3A is kinda old, and I don't know if it will run on OS X or not -- it may only run under OS 9.
 
Ya i did that but its say tat the system does not support it. i think it has be run under OS 9 too. Do u know were i can get OS 9 ?
 
what mac do you have? OS9 is not available for newer intel-based macs. Q3A will not work without OS9, as it's needed for the install, which you can then patch to work with OSX.

if you have an intel mac, you will not be able to play the mac version of Q3A without a lot of trouble.
