Re-installing MAC OSX - Powerbook G4

Hey Guys,

I'm having some trouble with Powerbook G4 computer, and the only resolution I could find was to reinstall the operating system. Here is the scenario:

1) I inserted the Installation Disk One (1) and held down on the "C" key in order to boot from the disk.

2) After booting, it then guided me to "Install Mac OSX" screen whereas I proceeded to the "Select Destination" screen.

3) When I reached to the Select Destination screen there was no drives that were been shown.

I have no idea were to take it from here, and I'm very frustrated as this is a brand new system that had coincidentally crashed whilst undergoing some simple procedures. Anyhow, your feedback is highly anticipated.

Restart your Powerbook to the OS X installer. At the first screen ('Select a Language'), don't continue with the install. Instead, click on the Installer menu - at the top of your screen. Then click on Disk Utility. Click on your drive, and then click on Repair Disk (Don't Repair Disk Permissions at this time) and check the results. If it repairs anything, click repair Disk again. Do this until nothing is found, or the same 'repair' is repeated a couple of times.
If you don't see your boot volume in the list (the one with the name of your volume, such as Macintosh HD, or Hard Drive, or other name), and only the device type; or nothing at all, then it's very likely a failed hard drive which will need to be replaced. It's a warranty repair, so all you lose is all your data :( .

Hopefully the drive WILL be repaired through this process. In that case, simply restart without continuing through a reinstall, perhaps you won't need that. You may be back up and running in a few minutes... Good Luck!

I see you posted about this issue about a month ago. Did you get it fixed and it's failed again? If not, your hard drive does not fix itself.
If the hard drive is not seen at all in Disk Utility, then other utilities like Disk Warrior are also not likely to help. I would get the drive replaced as soon as you can.
You are wasting your time with the Apple Hardware Test. This does not test the hard drive in any significant way. The results from Disk Utility is much more telling here.
