RealPlayer 11 Update Took Video Away!

I hope this is the correct forum and I also did a search and could not find anything on this topic.

Safari's default video player is RealPlayer as I understand it. My MacBook came with it installed and after an update to RealPlayer 11 for Mac OS X I am no longer able to see all my videos that I have saved. I only get the audio.

I did a search on RealPlayers tech support and came up with what I posted below. They say we have to go back to Flash Player 9!

I asked an additional about how does one revert back and they gave me the link below that requires me to pay for a membership now.

Can someone please shed some light on this. It just does not seem right what is going on now.

Thanks for taking the time to read and try to help in advance.

Rick

I am now having this problem as well with RealPlayer 11. The problem is all my saved videos are no longer showing video, just gives me audio.

From the answer below it looks like I have to go back to Flash Player 9.... how does one do this?

Thank you.

Question
I can hear sound, but can't see the video in RealPlayer for Mac OSX.

Answer
If you are trying to play an .flv (Flash video) file, then this problem is most likely caused by an incompatibility between Flash Player 10 and RealPlayer 11 for Macintosh. At this time, the only solution is to revert back to using Flash Player 9 on your Mac.

Wow ! Lots of interesting and inaccurate info out there....
First, Realplayer does not come installed, and is not the default video player on your Mac. The default is Quicktime, which is the primary video viewer on most any Mac. It's also part of your system....
Realplayer competes with Flash Player, so the theory that Flash Player (from Adobe) is somehow involved is really sketchy. Reaplayer does have paid levels of software, but there's also a free Realplayer to download. There is a registration and setup to use Realplayer, but you are not required to purchase anything, unless you want the paid levels.

Download and install Flash player - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10074404

Download and install Flip4Mac - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28842
What's that, you ask? Flip4Mac allows you to view a large number of video types through your QuickTime Player software, and has replaced much of the function of Windows Media Player....

Finally, download and install Perian, which adds more varieties of videos to your arsenal...: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30931

Between those 4 installs, you should solve your video challenges on your Mac.... !

Thank you for the reply and I am not trying to pass inaccurate info. I never installed RealPlayer, it was there the moment I started using Safari. Is it something that is with Safari? I do not know... and like I said, "as I understand it". I am not an expert, but rather trying to figure out why I can no longer view half of my videos that are saved.

Thanks for posting all those links.... I will look into them.

I already have RealPlayer 11 and Flash player 10.0. As you can see by their reply to my issue above they are saying that I need to revert back to Flash Player 9.

This is the email I just received from them this morning about my issue....

Ok, back on track... I downloaded all the suggested video players. Thanks again for the links.

When I attempted play my saved videos that have the real player icon I still do not have a video image, just sound. It there a way to change the saved videos video player default?

Also, Give VLC Media Player a try. It's free and plays videos that nothing will play.

This looks like it is working thank you for the link.

But it looks like I have to "browse" for videos that I want to view. Still figuring it out, I am sure it is somewhere in their.
