When I switch over to 9.2, I hold down the option and the command key to rebuild the desktop. It promts with a message stating if I wish to proceed with the rebuilding of the desktop. I click "Okay" and it switches to another screen indicating that it's saving it to the Info windows. All is good so far, until I get to the desktop and it says that "Finder has unexpectedly quit. Be sure to save all your applications before restarting your computer." What? I've done it plenty of times on this computer, but now why is Finder quitting on me?

Try doing it an disable extensions as well -- hold the Shift, Command and Option keys all at once. Sometimes a pesky extension can cause the Finder to quit.
