Receiving emails

I am with Tiscali Broadband and although I can send emails from my computer, I cannot receive them, so have to use a separate webmail
system instead. I have tried changing the codes as instructed by
Tiscali but I have had no luck. can you help?
 
Sure, but we're going to need a lot more information.

What type of mail account is it: POP? IMAP?

Do you have the correct server and ports defined in the "Accounts" preference pane in Mail?

Are you behind a router and/or firewall?
 
Well according to the Tiscali How To Setup Email (even though it is Outlook Mail will use the same settings). So follow these steps:

1. Open Mail
2. Go to Mail's Preferences and select Accounts.
3. Select your Account.
4. In the "Account Information" make sure you are using an email address of your account@tiscali.co.uk. Then in the "incoming Mail Server" set the address to be pop.tiscali.co.uk & use you username+password (the one you use for web mail).

Save the information. Then in Mail select the item "Window" and use the drop-down to select "Connection Doctor". Use "Connection Doctor" to watch to see if Mail makes a successful connection. Good Luck.
