Remove Safari 3.1 searchbar?

No easy way. The Address and Search part is a unit. All you can easily do is drag the divider bar between those two as far as you can, which leaves a tiny search area.

You could click the Report Bugs to Apple under the Safari menu. Not exactly a bug, but if it 'bugs' you, then go for it !

If you remove the Searchbar the URL bar goes with it.

If you Control/Right-click the searchbar you will see the option to remove it (as long as it isn't currently highlighted). You will notice that the URL bar disappears too. You can return them anytime by selecting "Customise" from the same menu.

How is that helpful? The OP wants to remove the searchbar, but that's linked to the Address bar. You have both or none. The OP wants a longer URL field, and doesn't want the search box (I suppose..)

I was afraid of that! I downsized it a bit and used Acidsearch to make Scroogle the default search plugin. That is an improvement, anyway.

Safari > View > Customize Toolbar
select the elements you want to add or remove, ie drag the search bar away?

Doesn't anyone read previous responses anymore?

As I stated above, the Searchbar, and the url search window are a unit. One cannot be removed, and leave the other. You can only move the divider between those two elements, so one can take up less space - or remove both.

Of course, curiosity is using a work-around by changing the search engine to something he considers more useful.
