On Windows I used to run a regedit program to clean up the "litter" left behind by trial programs etc. It would completely remove every file associated with that program - even hidden stuff. Is there a way to do this on Mac OS X?
Download TinkerTool and use the program to show hidden files (in the normal Finder). Then throw out what you want. WARNING: Be absolutely sure of what you throw out! The wrong file and OS X will grind to a halt!
Thanks for that...but is there a program that *knows* which hidden files to trash in the same way regedit does on XP? Regedit seems to know which bits of litter are homeless and throws them out. Hasn't failed me yet.
