Renaming MP3 Files

Hello to all,

I have a couple of mp3's that have the wrong name (same they are one song, but really another).

I have easily changed the name of the files, but notice when I click and select more info they still have the old, incorrect names (which will show up in the scrolling data on my stereo).

I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the "title" information so that it mirrors the name of the mp3.

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Thanks,

Bowjest

What you're talking about is two different places that information is stored -- in the filename, and as an ID3 tag. It sounds like what you did was change the filename to the correct artist/song, but did not change the ID3 tags to follow suit.

You can edit ID3 tags in iTunes by doing a "Get Info" on the file within iTunes (highlight a song, press command-i).

Thanks, Diablo!

I was hoping there was a quicker way to get there, but hey, that's super! :)

Much appreciated!

Be aware that you can edit ID3 information for multiple MP3s at one time, within limits. For example, if you had 12 or so MP3s that were from one album, you can highlight all those songs, do a "Get Info" on them in iTunes, and change the album name for all of them at once.

This is both a useful and dangerous capability, as I think you will see.
