Restoring ".bkf" back-up files

Our old PC (Windows XP) died suddenly, and we replaced it with an iMac (OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard). A couple of months before the PC died, we had backed up all our documents on floppy disks. We would like to restore these backups to our iMac so we can get all of our lost documents back (incidentally, most of our lost documents were in WordPerfect). Our public library's computers fortunately have floppy drives, so yesterday I went there and sent the contents of the back-up floppies to our iMac as e-mail attachments. I was able to download them on our iMac from Safari, but when I tried to open the downloads the message "there is no default application specified to Backup 5508-1.bkf document."
Do you have any suggestions on how we can get these documents onto our iMac in readable form? We do have MS Office for Mac on our iMac, if that helps any.
