I would like to ask for some help me retrieving some lost files (photographs) on my computer/camera.
On Sunday evening, I was uploading photos from my Sony DSC-T10 camera onto my Mac OSX v.10.3.9 Powerbook. While I was deleting some of the files I had uploaded, the camera battery died and was not properly ejected from my computer.
After I re-charged the batteries, I connected my camera to my computer again and the computer could not detect any files/photos in my camera. I had approximately 512 photos on the camera that have disappeared.
Note that when I connect my camera to my computer, the files I had been deleting just before the camera battery died shows in my Trash folder. However, when my camera is not connected to my computer, the files do not appear in my Trash folder.
I went to Applications > Disk Utility to attempt to find my lost files and the following information appears at the bottom of the screen:
Format: MS-DOS File System
Permissions Enabled: No
Folders: 0
Capacity: 949.8 MB
Available: 775.5 <B
Used: 174.3 MB
Number of Files: 512
When I use the First Aid function and attempt to Repair the disk, the following information appears on the screen:
Mounting Disk** /dev/disk1s
Phase 1 READ FAT
Phase 2 Check cluster chains
Phase 3 Checking Directories
Phase 4 Checking for Lost Fiels
116 files, 794080 free (24815 clusters)
1 non HFS volume repaired.
I am devastated. Could you advise me as to (a) whether it is possible to retrieve the lost files; and (b) if so, how I could go about doing so on my own?
Many thanks
