It depends on what kind of G4 it is. What kind of G4 is it? PCI graphics? AGP graphics?
If it's a PCI machine, it'll have a jumper block. Here are the correct jumper settings for a wide variety of speeds:

BTW, it is impossible to overclock this machine to 1GHz. Perhaps you do not have this model of machine. If not, please reply back with the exact model of machine (all machines overclock differently, so we need to know the exact model).
