Run Mac OS X Leopard in 64-bit

Hello,

I just installed 2x2GB sticks of RAM from my previous 2x512MB sticks. When I started my MAC, the System utility told me that I have 4GB of RAM but when I check my iStats Dashboard tool it says I only have 3 GB. Am I not reading something properly or is there a way to run Mac OS X Leopard in 64-bit mode, which will be able to recognize 4 GB of memory?

The 1st Core 2 Duos could only recognize 3Gigs of RAM, but has been changed now to 4 Gigs.

OS X Leopard already runs 64-bit from top to bottom. It can detect when it's running a 32-bit application and is able to run it, but the operating system runs in 64-bits already if I'm not mistaken.

Yep. I finally convinced myself (I was also woundering this) this by installing 64 bit Linux (Kubuntu) onto my VMWare Fusion.

That 3GB limitation leads me to believe you're running a MacBook, and the 3GB limitation is imposed by the motherboard, not the fact that it's either 32-bit or 64-bit.
