Safari rolls a beachball

The last several times I tried to quit everything, preparing for a shutdown or reboot, Safari has gone into a tailspin and I had to force-quit it. Any ideas?

Safari 3.2.1 on MacOS 10.5.6.

Any ideas?
More information, maybe?

Got any Safari add-ons? PithHelmet? AcidSearch? Are there a bunch of tabs/windows open when you try and quit it? Does it always do it? Does it randomly do it? Does it happen when a particular website or websites are loaded? If so, do the pages have heavy Flash or JavaScript content? Is Safari using CPU cycles, or is it an "idle" hang (check with Activity Monitor)? What do the Console log messages say when Safari hangs?

No add-ons. I have one window with 5 tabs, one of which is this forum. The number of windows varies from 1 to, say, 10. It always spins. I cannot correlate yet with Flash or JavaScript. I'll check the console next time I try to quit. I do not believe it's using much CPU but, again, I'll check more closely next time.
