Safari...

I love my new Mac OS! I really do, the only hang up I have over it is Safari...it's ridiculously slow. My family all have PC's and have Internet Explorer which works sooo fast, so I find myself using their PC's for internet access, which is quite annoying. Now, I'm quite technologically inept (being 23, I know I should be ashamed) so bear with me.
1) Is there anyway I can make my internet connections speed up?
2) Can I replace Safari with another Internet provider (i.e. Shaw or something else?)...I'm so tired of Safari, I hate it!!!!!!
Please help, I have a home business and I need daily Internet connection, preferably one that doesn't run like a senior on a highway...

Thanks,
Angela

Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Leopard Edition

Your post seems as if you should read this cheap book. It will Mac you almost a Mac veteran.

1) Is there anyway I can make my internet connections speed up?

Yes. Follow these steps:

1. Quit Safari
2. Then go to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the file com.apple.Safari.plist and drag it to your Trash Can.
3. Open Safari and it will be set back to it's original state (without loosing your Bookmarks). So set the Preferences to what you want in Safari (note: in Safari go to the menu item word "Safari" and in the pull-down and go to "Presences" and tun off "Open safe files after downloading" to be safer surfing).
4. Update you Flash Plugin by going to the folder (after quitting Safari) and re-downloading the Adobe Flash Player (the latest one) and installing it
5. Make sure all your /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ are up to date.
6. Download the free Trojan finder DNSChanger Removal Tool and make sure you didn't get the known OS X Trojan.
7. Go to web site OpenDNS.com and use their service, it will make your browsing safer and faster. They have an instructional video showing you the benefits of the free service. It even works well in Europe so don't be scared of it.

2) Can I replace Safari with another Internet provider (i.e. Shaw or something else?)...I'm so tired of Safari, I hate it!!!!!!

Safari and Google Crome (even on a PC) as use the same rendering engine
Webkit.
