Safe to install OS9 after X on the same partition?

I know there's a thread about this somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Is it safe to install OS 9 on the same partition after I've installed OS X, or will it overwrite my OS X system, or parts of it at least (like /System for example)? My HD is formatted to Mac OS Extended by the way so it's not a conflict (i.e., not formatted to UNIX).

I can repartition when I get Jag (but I'll have 3 then, Classic, X, and YDL), which is the right thing to do anyway...

I do it, I did it, I'll do it again.

9 gets System Folder, X gets System
X gets Applications, 9 gets Applications (Mac OS 9)

I don't recommend dual booting to use the same files as you sometimes run into locking and permissions weirdness, but it's not a heavy issue, and a non-issue for classic.

Wouldn't recommend too much partitioning of your drives. Have only partitioned my PowerBook drive because of the dodgy OSX 8Gb rule on them. If you need separate spaces, you'd be better off getting extra drives. Partitions are not the most efficient way to run your computer and they always end up too small!
 
Yeah actually I'm going to install YellowDog as well, and since I never need to boot to OS 9 directly for any reason, I'm just going to make 2 partitions, one for X/9 and one for YDL (plus the tiny boot partition and all that jazz).
