Scrren problem on PwerBook G4

I have had a PowerBook G4 for approximately 3.5 years, and the top left hand corner of the screen has become slightly faded. Any ideas what may have caused this problem?
 
From the subject title I gathered it might be a keyboard-related problem. :p
 
After re-reading the original post, I have a question: by "faded," do you mean "darker," or do you mean "washed-out colors that aren't as vibrant as the rest of the screen?"
 
By faded, I mean that the colors on the screen in the top left corner are considerably lighter than the rest of the screen, especially when there's a dark image on screen. The blacks almost appear white.
Do you reckon it could be anything to do with the battery, as when the laptop is folded shut, the affected area of the screen is directly over where the battery is. Might the heat from the battery of damaged the screen?
