For last few days I can not check my .mac email using any mail client. When I ping mail.mac.com, I get :

ping mail.mac.com
PING mail.mac.com (17.250.248.64): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: No route to host
ping: sendto: No route to host
ping: sendto: No route to host

and mail connector doctor said:

could not connect to this .mac server ....

any idea.

I am ok reading my mail via. web browser

Cheers,

Charles

Go to the Account preferences in Mail's Preferences. Then select the the.Mac account, then under 'Account Information' select the button 'Server Settings'. When the comes up select the input box Server port:. Once there make the port 587. This will change the send Mail port because some ISPs are blocking external email server ports to stop spammers so Apple set up this different send Mail port for it's users.
