Settings' Alzheimer's and Mail Mayhem

andychrist

devil's plaything
The other day at launch there was an alert that Mail had been updated, would I like to allow Keychain to do whatever, I clicked okay. Now an old problem has returned, any time I attempt to send mail to anyone other than myself at macosx.com, I get either of the errors pictured below. Once I successfully post a test to myself using my macosx.com account I can then send the intended message from that account. And I can no longer send mail from my nyc.rr account at all.

Another problem this old iForced BondiMac has been experiencing is a loss of recording of settings installed under Keyboard Shortcuts in X.3.3. After a while those I add for Safari or all Applications will no longer show up in the pane, though they are still in effect. Then if I attempt to create any additional shortcuts all the original ones are lost and must be re-entered manually.

Also Spell-check doesn't seem to be remembering words that I am pretty sure I must have taught it (such as the names of my Mail accounts!) but that might just be my own senility slipping in.

Have verified Disc and Permissions, run all cron scripts, and sacrificed a small chicken, all to no avail. If anyone can tell me the proper spell to cast it would be greatly appreciated.

ThanX!

Well both my mail accounts seem to be working again after the network admin reset the cable router but my additional settings in Keyboard Shortcuts have disappeared again, though as far as I can tell they still work as I last set them.

Thanks guys.

It seems that road runner uses smtp-server and mail-server in their settings. It is the same with hvc.rr.com. (hudson valley catskills)
