Shared devices not showing

MY husbands computer does not show his shared devices. We checked all the items under advanced optiond and the only difference between his and mine is under the TCP/Ip tab and the following is a comparison:

The IPv4 address is different Mine: 10.0.1.195 His 10.0.1.193

Subnet the same

Router the same

Configure IPv6 both on Automatically


Any suggestions?
 
Well first turn off IPv6 unless you really need to use it. That goes for any normal person's home router and computer. On OS X (you never listed your version of OS X on your Mac and what Mac & OS X he is running) just go to System Preferences (in your Dock)->Network, "Advanced" button - TCP/IP tab. Plus are you running any personal computer firewalls?

Then on your home router what router is it? Can both computers (please give us the computer models anD OS) ping each other? Do both computers get out onto the internet otherwise?
