I have an iBook G4 running Mac OS X 10.3.9, and I'm using iTunes 6.0.1 (3). In the past few months (probably after running Software Update and installing yet another version of iTunes), it's taking much longer to import CDs and to convert mp3s to m4as. Instead of 9x-10x speed, it rips at 1x-3x speed. Error correction is turned off and, in any case, converting files to AAC is just as slow.
I found an earlier post on a similar problem (http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234679) but it hadn't received any responses. Internet searches pointed me to a bug in iTunes for Windows but nothing about Macs. Thanks for any advice you can give.
