Slow Speed problems

what Mac do you have? what OS X do you have? What is slow speed? The whole Mac or just a certain program(s)?

Go to OpenDNS.com and follow their instructions to use their DNS. I assure you their DNS servers are much faster then the DNS server your ISP is using.
 
well im kinda using verizon and plus i dont know any thing about that website and their Dns servers. i wasnt planning to switch DNS server. isnt there another way to speed up this comp?

Download a maintenance program like Onyx or Yasu and run the maintenance routines.

This might help. Plus trust me about OpenDNS. You can Google threads on how using this service really help them speed up when surfing.

Is your hard-drive have less than 10% free space? Do you have to many programs open and not enough RAM?

Is your Modem or Router OPEN to others to steal the bandwidth via WIFI?

Maybe try SystemPrefs>Network> Ethernet>
Change settings from Automatic to Manual > Speed: 100baseTX , Duplex: full-duplex , Standard (1500)
Click Apply

That is not your problem but that has helped people get a little more speed in the past.

OK sorry geez.. I have more than 10 % available. I dont know about anyone stealing, OK ill try system prefs, and ok, so what is my problem? And how do i know if (Is your Modem or Router OPEN to others to steal the bandwidth via WIFI?)
 
Hey changing the preferences did make a difference in the speed of surfing A BIG PLUS THANK U MUCH and i downloaded onyx im seeing how it works now and...... id really like to know a way to make sure noone is stealing my connection...and i will check the slow speed link too so I have work 2 do....and ill check opendns.com last so i can read what im gettin into soo... thanks for the info I appreciate it and sorry for the impatience. And ILL BE BACK LOL
 
IP Scanner will tell you if anyone is hijacking wireless bandwidth.

It won't help you compose a thank you message to any forum members who you PM-ed asking how to post new threads, but that's ok, cuz that can happily wait until you've got your current problems sorted out.
