SMTP doesn't work with one specific user

Hi, I am having a very weird problem with my mac.

My company uses a Exchange service called mailstreet.com. I successfully installed this service on Entourage and Postbox, but there is no WAY I can make this work in Mail.

I copy the exact same configuration of my co-workers and this Mail app does not stop complaining about my "wrong" SMTP password. Saying the server rejected.

I literally copied every single configuration from other people using Mail and it doesn't work.

Then, I decided to try using the Guest account on my mac. It WORKED!

So, I figure there must be something crazy with my account, some permission thing, I don't know.

I tried deleting all the references to SMTP on my KeyChain, didn't fix it. Tried deleting the Libray/Mail folder, didn't work.

Please, help.

First write down all the server settings that is going to needed. Then go to the folder /HardDrive/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/ and find the file com.apple.mail.plist and drag it to the trash can. Then restart Mail and recreate the account settings again. Hopefully that will help.

Plus read blog post to see if it pertains to your situation.

Good luck.

Find out what Time server (System Preferences->Date & Time) that OS X machine is using? I ask because Exchange using Kerberous is very picky about time stamps. So check that time server to one on the Exchange server and try to match them.

Plus what version of OS X is it running that is having the problem? Also is the Mac on a Windows Domain?

The time is not the issue since the other account is working just fine (and it is in the same computer). I am using the latest Leopard. And the mac is NOT in the domain. But, again, a newly created user in the same computer works just fine.

It seems quite obvious that the settings in the problematic setup are incorrect. No if's. No and's. No but's. Go through each setting carefully. Make sure that there are no extraneous spaces. Make sure that the case of each character is correct.

Did it a million times. It is hard to convince I am not stupid when I talk about this problem. Everyone will assume that the configuration is just wrong. But I can guarantee, I typed it a million times to ensure it is not. :)

But that is fair enough. I fixed it by moving to another house. Now, I am good.

Thanks

Ah ha! That means somewhere either in the ISP, modem or Router (with built in firewall) has either conflicting Time servers (in each device) or the router/modem is preventing SMTP port 25 or 587 is being blocked somehow.

Plus in the offending Mac is the software firewall activated?

That is not it.... it is the SAME mac. Two accounts in the same machine. Exact same configuration, firewall, etc.
