hi,

i bought a macbook pro 13' a month ago and am running snow leopard. This has been very frustrating as the computer is very very slow... can't scroll between firefox tabs, applications as word, iphoto and others take eternal time to open and i always get the frustrating color spinning wheel...
I've read that deleting the /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist file would solve the problem. I did so and the computer was running fine until a few days ago... the spinning wheel is back and i'm loosing my nerve...

can anybody please help me?

thanks

As a start - have you tried booting to the hardware diagnostics, and running the tests?
Reboot - while holding the letter D - should bring up the diagnostics test.

If that doesn't show anything, boot to your restore/install DVD, and run Disk Utility from the menus. Try the Repair Disk (different from Repair Disk Permissions)
What are the results (good, or bad)?

Have you run the periodic maintenance scripts on a utility like Onyx recently?

If not do so.

How much free disk space do you have?

delta mac:
will try to boot as you suggested. my mac came with the system installed from store. i'll let you know what happens.

simbalala: brand new mac!!! i have more than 200gb available!

That's good, the maintentance utilities still need to run though. If for some reason you machine isn't running them (sleeping or off when they would run) you should run them.

Have a look at this page: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/maintscripts.html

See the section on Determining when the maintenance scripts last ran

and use the ls -al /var/log/*.out command to see when they last did run.
