In lion, exactly what is the function of 4 fingers swipe down? All it does,if you have multiple apps open is just place them all behind each other and thats it,only shows you the top one..Can someone explain this?

And how can I get to my desktop the fastest? If I'm in a full screen app I have to either scroll out of it,of 4 finger up then click on the desktop item, and then if the desktop has items there I have to minimize those as well..the **** am I doing wrong? I want togo from full screen to clutter free desktop not just click desktop and still have to deal with apps that aren't full screen.

And when I do 4 fingers up,how come the programs minimized in my dock don't show up like they did in snow leopard ? sl had a mini line then those programs..now sometimes i just get some documents that idk where they are form

Another option to quickly get to your desktop is to use "Spaces" (as they were formerly known), then using a four-finger left/right swipe to move from your fullscreen app to a "space" that is not used by other apps (in other words, a space that has no windows open and shows only your desktop).

In the words of the venerable Mr. Miyagi, "No up-down! Side-side, Danyooson!"
