SOny CD-RW disks only ejected by Superdrive on iMac flatscreen!!

From what I could find in the Knowlege Base, it looks like CD-RW disks should be writable in the Superdrive.

My Superdrive is working properly and will write DVD-R as well as CD-R....but when I insert a CD-RW it spits it out after 30-60 seconds......what is the problem??
 
What about other brands. High speed media (32X and greater) from Sony might not be compatible with some drives, I've seen this in Tech Support responses on PeeCees.
 
I bought the CD-RW more than two years ago and never used them till now! I have no idea what speed they are and it is not marked on the box or the disk (as far as I can see).

I did note in the KB that CD-RW above 10x cannot be written ..... but is there any way to tell the speed of the media if it is not written?
