Starry Wallpapers for iMac

I recently upgraded to a 21.5 iMac, and I'm looking for a suitable wallpaper for it. Specifically, I'm looking for a black and white picture of a galaxy, but all my searches on Google only showed images that are too small for the iMac. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Sparrowhawk

Have you checked Hubble’s web site ?

They have several different sizes offered for download and an extensive library of images.

You are aware I hope, that under "Change desktop wallpaper" there is a drop down menu that gives you several choices as to resizing the pictures.

I like APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day). My favorites are East of Antares, IC 4592: A Blue Horsehead, Wisps around the HorseHead Nebula, IC1396 - The Elephant's Trunk, IC1396 H-Alpha Close-Up, and lastly Horsehead and Orion Nebulae.

jbarley, I was unaware that there is a "change desktop wallpaper" option in the OS. Where is it located, and thanks!

Addendum: I found the "change" option you spoke of but the image is just distorted because there aren't enough pixels, I imagine. Solutions?

Open it in Preview. Crop it in proportion and then expand it to the size you want.

I found a wallpaper site called "WALLPAPERS WIDE" that contained a variety of large format wallpapers, including space pictures. We can close this thread now.
