start up taking a long time on Powerbook

I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Lepoard and got Adobe Creative Suite CS3 loaded on my Powerbook G4. Now it's taking a long time to start up. It starts up with the normal gray screen with the apple logo in the middle then the screen turns blue for a while then I finally see my desktop. It just seems that the blue screen is there for a long time at first.

Any advice on what I could do to fix this?!?!

Thanks!

Alicia

Same setup as you, except I have Intel 2.6 & 4g RAM. It takes me between :55 & 1:05 seconds for startup. Not considered too long. How long is yours.

OK. Have either of EVER done maintenance on your Mac? I say this because there is a myth in the Mac community saying Macs never need maintenance. This myth is flash.

So download either Yasu or Onyx and do the cleaning routines in either program. After the Mac first boots back up (it will take a while rebuilding cache files) immediately reboot again to rebuild all the shutdown and startup caches.

Using a maintenance program once every month can keep a Mac running like it is almost new.
