until this problem is sorted out is there a way i can step back to 10.4.6 so i can at least access my work on avid? thanks and best wishes, jpb

yeah, didn't work. phoned avid and they said it was definitely an apple issue, other people are having the same problem after the 10.4.7 update.

No, there is no way to "roll back" your installation to 10.4.6.

If you desperately need 10.4.6, you can perform an "Archive & Install" procedure, then use the combo updater to bring your system up to 10.4.6 again.

It's too late now for you but here's what I do. I do a complete bootable backup to a partition on an external drive before I install any major upgrade. Then I save that until I need to reclaim the disk space and I'm sure I won't need it.
