Strange Folder labelled virusmails in private/var/

I was poking around in my computer the other day, and noticed a folder which gave me a bit of concern. Located in private/var/ is a folder named virusmails, which also had some unrecognized permissions. Does anyone have an educated opinion on this? (See attached screenshots)

Whoops! Should have googled the User ID on those permissions. Look like they are from a previous install of ClamAV, using the amavisd component for checking for viri in emails.
 
I saw some theories it'd be created by ClamAV - they are not.
They seem to be there by default in Mac OS X 10.5 (verified on clean system).
