stuck pixle - HELP

sinclair_tm

wow, 1.4g is way faster!
I have a viewsonic va712b. had it for about 2 weeks, and now i just noticed a pixle stuck red. is there something i can do to try to fix it. i really don't feel like taking it back even though i think i still can. i got till the 15th to take it back. any ideas?

Bad news I'm afraid. For a single dead pixel on a screen there is nothing that can be done. All manufacturers have a set number of dud pixels before they will replace a screen and none as far as I am aware set it as low as one.

Viewsonic customer support are very good and might be worth a call, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for a fix or replacement.

well the store will still take it back, no matter what for 21 days after purchse. but i really don't feel like gaoing all the way back to the store.

Try calling them. If that doesn't work, go back to the store and return it. If they will take it back, unload it on them and get a new one, even if you have to do a return and re-purchase.

Isn't it called Dead Pixel Buddy, from laptopshowcase.com? I used that and it just displays full screens of one solid color of choice. Great for finding those mofos.

No he says he has a stuck pixel...thats differnt than a dead one...A dead one shows nothing but black...His is stuck on red! So its possibly to unstick it.

Sometimes you can fix a stuck pixel by gently massaging the area directly behind the pixel on the back of the screen -- but this is a tip for laptop users, where the screen is thin and massaging gently has enough force to slightly affect the actual LCD panel. On a desktop monitor, I would assume it's not as thin as a laptop screen and the thickness of the casing of the monitor would probably make it difficult to "massage" with any effect.

If you have ever used a desktop lcd, you ouwld know that they are too thick to reach the lcd panel inside. On laptops it does work. Try rubbing the pixel from the front with a smooth cloth.

well, i did download that video, and let it run for over 2 hours, but still have a red pixel. even rub as hard as i dared ( which was rather weak, it is a new expenisve monitor after all ), no good. went back to the store, and they were out. could goto a another one, but then i found out that the 21 days would not restart with the new one, but contiune from the first one. and i just knew that on day 22 i would get a stuck pixel in the middle of the screen and have to live with it. so, i decided to keep this one because i only see it with a white background when nothing else is going on, and its close to a corner. and be thankful that i only need 6 more in the next three years to have viewsonic replace it. so thanks for all the ideas and thoughts.
