Stupid Icon Stacking

Whenever you save something on your desktop the files normally appear down the screen in columns from right to left right? Well, my Mac won't do more than one column. There's the hard disk icons, then enough files down to the bottom of the screen and then any other files saved on the desktop all pile on top of the bottom right file which is REALLY annoying. Any way to fix this?

Sorry, I don't have a fix, but can tell you that I have the exact same problem... its not just you.

You may want to try changing the view preferences of the Finder to "Snap to grid" or "Keep arranged by:" or a combination thereof... or perhaps switch them off and see what happens. I have a feeling it's the view options...

Have you tried deleting preference files associated with the Finder? Or maybe the .DS_Store file in the Desktop folder?
