Stupidly Deleted my Sparseimage File

Strange... it seems like your directory structure is severely borked, for lack of a better term. There should be a /Users directory, and it seems it's not there.

The "-bash-2.05b#" is just the command prompt, telling you you're using the bash shell. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

At this point, I don't know what to suggest -- perhaps try an Archive & Install procedure, and cross your fingers that it doesn't overwrite the sparseimage file.

If you REALLY need the information out of your old user account, then perhaps someone else here can suggest another method to try. If you have another hard drive, you can install a fresh copy of OS X on that hard drive, then access the previous hard drive to try and restore your sparseimage.
 
Ok, hey thank you so much for all your help. I tried to install the OS x on an external hard drive but it wouldn't let me. I'm going to take it to the apple store and see if they can suggest anything. Thanks again.
