I suggest that one adds the Skype address as a regular profile option for IM. It is available on all machines and supports call to fixed phones.
 
Well, not if you're using it more like IM, of course. Like iChat AV speech options, for example... And on the other hand, isn't giving your iChat handle out a bit like giving a phone number out? So one can reach you?
 
Well, I'd have no problem putting a chat handle on here and advertising it, but I would most definitely not advertise any of my phone numbers online... hehe... one day I hope that phones and computers will be as one, but as of right now, I protect my home phone number like a vault of gold... ;)
