Sync iphone.

I had to clean install, & went back to OS 10.3 uprrading to 10.3.9
I have 10.4.1 but my PowerBook G4 won't install it.
It also won't install itunes 8 , necessary to sync with my iphone.
any ideas John
 
Yes, that's correct!
Your iPhone, if the newer 3G model would require iTunes 8. If you have OS X 10.3.9, then you need to upgrade to 10.4.11
That's not a free download to upgrade, so you will need an installer disk to do that.
Did you have 10.4.x before your reinstalled your system this time?
You would need to upgrade to 10.4 the same way that you did before.
Perhaps you have the 10.4, or Tiger upgrade disk, or you have the full install of Tiger, which would be a black label DVD...

I have spent 2 days on this & have arrived at the same conclusion.
I do NOT have a black CD for 10.4.
But the iphone was sync ing for 3 months.

Si I guess I will have to spend 2000$ on a new Mac so that I can sync my 200$ iphone ! ! !
Pity as I still love my PowerBook as it does everything I need .

If you were syncing to your iPhone before, then that's not everything you need, eh?

And, if you had to reinstall OS X, you would have upgraded to OS X 10.4.x before. How did you get to that version before? And that would be all you need for your iPhone (not $2,000) - unless you're been waiting for a good excuse to get that new aluminum MacBook Pro, then we can't very well stand in you way! :D
 
Yep I want a new one... but they will be cheaper in January.
So wailting till then.... In the mean time.
I Have downloaded 10.4.1 but it says " this computer cannot install the software"I also have iTunes802.dmg but I get the same message.
Reason I need to sync iphone is that it won't get mail any more.
 
You CANNOT download an update that will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4
If you were syncing your iPhone, then you would be using 10.4.11, or higher.

You WERE using 10.4.x before...

How did you upgrade to Tiger?
You can use that same software.

You can't upgrade from Panther (10.3) to Tiger (10.4) without the appropriate installer disk.
The downloadable updates WON'T upgrade your OS.
iTunes 8 requires 10.4.9 or higher.
iTunes 8 also requires QuickTIme 7.5.5 or higher. You can't update the QuickTime unless you are running 10.4.9 or higher.
And,lastly, your iPhone requires OS X 10.4.10 or higher.....

I don't know how I had 10.4, as I don't have any CD's in my folder for that.
So it was just good luck that my iphone was working
May be I purschased it on line .... yonks ago... so don't have CD.
SO. I will purchase it again
WHERE? do you recomend.
