I'm sure that every piece of software is released with "known" bugs. It's possible that some or all of these bugs were already known, but: a) couldn't be fixed in time for launch, b) were "bumped" down the priority list, or c) deemed to be safe or harmless to everyday use.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to the 10.4.1 release, as Tiger is the one release of Mac OS X that I've noticed is "unpolished" and, what I would consider, still in a sort of beta stage.

ElDiablo.... 10.0? that was basically a proof of concept they released and expected some people to pay for.... it was beta. beta that didn't reach gold until 10.2. jaguar was what 10.0 should have been... i may be being controversial, but that was my view of it. 10.1 was a bug-fix (highlighted by the fact they made it a free release), But was still sort of shoddy. since then theyve been adding features and speeding it up. (panther and tiger)

Lt Major Burns: Yes, Panther had issues at first as well. Actually, I've found Panther - over _all_ of it's updates until 10.3.9 - a story much worse than Jaguar. Personally, I hope that Tiger's era will be better.
Panther's FW issue in 10.3.0 and 10.3.1 (connected with FW drives' firmware) was a _real_ baddie, very unlike what little problems some've seen in Tiger. (Applications that need updating were a part of Panther's problems, too. Many Carbon apps had graphical glitches IIRC.)
And about history...
I'm using OS X as my main working horse system ever since 10.0 (I've been using the PB as a secondary system). While 10.0 was slow in the UI-department, its ability to run more applications and multitask correctly enabled me to actually work _faster_ in 10.0 than in 9.x. Took some getting used to, took some freeware utilities as helpers, but otherwise it was fine for me. 10.1 was not free because it was merely a "bug-fix", it was free because of marketing. 10.0 was received with as much praise as bashing, but Puma (10.1) brought not only performance improvements but also feature improvements. The work done in only about six months IIRC was _great_. So... They've _actually_ been adding features and speeding it up since 10.0. I think CD burning was first supported in 10.0.3 or something. And DVD playing was in 10.1. Not exactly _small_ features. (Although I agree those should _definitely_ have been present in 10.0. But that's how it is...)

At the time I posted it, I was using a hotel computer (IBM-PC Clone) which displayed the font sizes small and dim. Obviously I misconstrued the resultant font size on other computers. I posted it bold so it would be more readable - obviously my grevious mistake.
I will therefore refrain from posting bold unless there is a life or death emergency, and then I will ask for permission first.

Apple is becomming more like Microsoft. ugh! I mean releasing unpolished software to the general public and then expecting people to patch it up.. pfft.
It's like those Service Pack releases for windows. Although those SP releases are majorly security issues

Heh... I'm willing to bet that Tiger has over a million lines of code in it. Releasing any software that complicated to the public bug-free is next to impossible!
