System Crashing

HI need a bit of help if anyone can .....running 10.3.9 g5
but has started to crash randomly... the left screen goes black and says to restart or to hold down the power button for several seconds.......no new software has been installed on mac..............all started after it crashed aftercoming out of sleep mode.?????????????????????

Try repairing permissions if you haven't already. If it isn't I had a G5 doing this and it was down to a faulty logic board.
 
Sounds like a hardware problem. Try running the iMac without USB and FireWire hardware connected. (Of course you'd still connect your keyboard and mouse.) And see if that means that the crashes are gone. Could also mean the RAM is bad, though. The message you see is called a "kernel panic".
 
Like Fryke said, try disconnecting everything from your computer except your keyboard and mouse, then see what happens. If it stops, then it's down to something you have connected. If it doesn't, then chances are it's something internal.
 
Thanks very much for your help people......did a hardware test and found out that the ram is f*£&ked so going to replace thanks for the repiles...... big up.............. peace
