i've been using flock which gets the job done but safari has me scratching my head... i downloaded the latest copy... several times just to make sure... it won't open.... it gets as far as putting the icon in the dock then it crashes with the message:

"The application Safari quit unexpectedly.

Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.

Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to apple"

Clicked on report n this comes up...

then is has a "Binary Images Description:" that's a bunch of nonsense to me if it could help i'll paste it too...

anyways... it'd be nice to use safari again...

and my software update says this when i run it...

"A networking error has occurred: Error NSURLError Domain -1100 (-1100). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.

Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem."

obviously i can connect to the internet i'm here.... i read somewhere it might be that i've got my network settings mixed up if i'm running the net through airport, but it's a cable connection through comcast hooked into the built-in ethernet... sooo.... i unno bout that either... any help is much appreciated...

I'd suggest trying without plugins enabled but as it crashes before we can have a look at the preferences need to try something else first.

Move the contents of [your username] / Library / Preferences / Safari to the desktop.
Do the same for [your username] / Library / Cookies / Cookies.plist.
(as we will need some content later).

Try launching Safari now - if it does launch properly, quit it and place Bookmarks.plist back to the above folder, and try again. If it works now, you have your bookmarks back and one of the files had been corrupted (but the only file you need back from the above is the bookmarks one, the rest aren't needed).

Let me know if that makes any difference.

Still with the same crash code?
Do you have any other users in your system? If you do, do the others get this same crash?
Please run OnyX for maintenance and cleaning scripts, delete caches etc with it.
