TalkBroadband™ anyone ?

A co-worker of mine signed up for (in Canada) Primus TalkBroadband™, which is a residential VoIP service.

I was wondering if ayone else had experience with either this service, or another residential VoIP service (i.e., one that allows you to use a regular handset).

Heck, if I can have a number in the two area codes I live in and make and receive local calls that way for $30 / mo, why not !

(This is here because the TBB router plugs into my Mac, at least, in theory)

I have heard very good things about vonage. I havent used it, but some of my good friends have, and they sound clearer when i talk to them than when they use a normal line. I guess it all depends on how stable your broadband is. I know mine goes out from time to time, and that would mean no phone service for me.

Yeah my co-worker's family keeps comlpaining that he cuts out, but he doesn't use the same ISP as I do. I can go for days or sometimes weeks on the same IP, and they just upgraded it to 1.5 MBit.

I've got Vonage and I love it. Even my Tivo can dial out over it. So the quality is very good. It is perfect for what it does and all for only $25 a month. I love getting my voicemail notification via email and listening to them on the web. The web interface rocks!

I know you can have virtual numbers as well for other area codes in the US and some other countries including canada. However there is a fee, about $5 I think.

I'll NEVER have a regular phone line again.
