Terminal problem

I accidentally used the command rm -r * without first designating the directory; everything is gone from my desktop, doesn't appear anything else is missing - yet. Any way to recover the desktop files? I use Backup that goes to an external drive but not sure where to find the desktop folder.

The Desktop folder will be located in /Users/[yourusername]/Desktop.

If you backed your user folder up, you can find it there in your backups.
