I noticed that Tiger is more NeXTSTEP like :D
How ?
When you boot up now it says "Starting MacOS X..." , for any former nextstep people you know that when the OS started it said "Starting Nextstep" or "starting openstep".
Previous versions of MacOS X were like classic in that they listed what was starting (internet services, appletalk, etc) - which was a remnant of classic's control panel/extension load :)

I know - I am a geek to have noticed :P ::ha::

That... is... excellent. I think I'll use that line in the future, k? Hehe...

I noticed that as well -- although mine's a little unpredictable. Sometimes it'll display "Starting Mac OS X" all the way through the startup process, while other times it'll list individual services starting up. Strange!

It might be on purpose that they did this or it might be because they start services in parallel now with launchd, so at any given time, apache, sshd, ftpd etc could all be starting at the same time.
